A Need-to-Know Bassist…
A Need-to-Know Bassist
Born the son of a guitarist and the younger brother of a drummer, it was all but inevitable that Zac should start playing electric bass at the age of eleven. By the age of sixteen Zac had already played hundreds of shows and recorded on a number of albums throughout New England. After studying classical composition and upright bass performance at Keene State College, Zac moved to Austin, Texas in 2014 where he recorded and performed with dozens of artists including Adrian Quesada (Black Pumas), Ephraim Owens (Tedeschi Trucks Band), Bushwick Bill (The Geto Boys), Bourgeois Mystics, The Watters, Bottom Dollar String Band, and more. In 2020 Zac returned to his native New Hampshire where he continues to perform and record both in-person and remotely with collaborators all over the country. Bass teachers/coaches have included Rob Gourlay, Cameron Brown, Don Baldini, P. Kellach Waddle, Bruce Gertz, Jamie Macdonald, and Steve Cady.
